For your consideration, a one-of-a-kind Alleva-Coppolo Modern Guitar!
Built in 2015 by Jimmy Coppolo, the Modern is a classic 60's Strat body, but slightly smaller. It's doesn't quite feel as small as a Dinky, but is noticeable easier to wield than a standard issue Strat. Jimmy makes ridiculously nice basses... his guitar models rarely pop up for sale, and as to be expected, they are also insanely nice instruments.
At first glance, we assumed it was just a blacked-out Modern with a random bullseye graphic on the headstock. The active EMG pickups seemed a bit out of place on an Alleva-Coppolo, but we see active EMGs shoved into all sorts of weird guitars (ask us about the Lucille!). When we disassembled the guitar to give it a full inspection and proper setup, we discovered that there was a lot more going on that we initially realized. The neck heel had a lengthy hand-written, thoughtful, and personal note from Jimmy to whoever commissioned this custom build. We needed to know more and reached out to Jimmy for some insight. Jimmy was super helpful. He's a world-class guy, which is fitting, considering his world-class instruments. Jimmy explained that the guitar was a custom order for a friend who was a huge Zakk Wylde fan and had requested the EMG pickups. As an extra nod to ZW, Jimmy added the iconic ZW Bullseye graphic to the headstock, under the clearcoat, of course. Very cool! Inside the rear trem cavity, a stray hair from Jimmy's beloved shop dog, Caesar, landed in the paint and Jimmy left it, also leaving a handwritten note explaining that it is Caesar's hair. It must have given this guitar some sort of extra mojo because this thing absolutely slays! The smaller body makes it super comfy to play, the neck is fat, almost 50's Les Paul sized. The frets are nice and jumbo with minimal fretwear that doesn't affect playability or intonation. The rosewood fretboard is nice and dark with attractive grain. The tuners were replaced with Fender locking Sperzel-style tuners, leaving extra holes from the original tuners. If it was ours to keep, we would replace them with black tuners, but these work great and don't look bad. Everything else is original and unmodified. There are a few minor dings and scuffs, typical of any guitar that has been played. There are no signs of abuse or neglect. The neck is straight with no issues and the truss rod works in both directions. The original black on black trem arm is included, as is the original hardshell case.
This one is freshly setup with a fret polish, fingerboard hydration, and a clean and adjust of all hardware and electrical components. This one is ready to rock!
