Do you offer appraisals?
Yes! If you have an instrument that you would like to know the value of, bring it in! We would love to help you determine a current market value.
Do you authenticate instruments?
We are a trusted voice in the vintage guitar community and have working relationships with iconic guitar brands, museums, auction houses, and insurance providers. We offer a full in-hand inspection and thorough authentication with a written appraisal of your stringed instrument or amplifier starting at $35 per instrument. Get in touch with us for discounted rates for larger collections.
Cumberland Guitars recommends a written statement of value for insurance purposes. We have seen enough flood and fire damaged guitars to know that the threat is real!
Do you have any zero contact or curbside pickup shopping options?
Cumberland Guitars has taken multiple steps to minimize contact during these wild times. We offer Curbside Pickup for online purchases, over-the-phone orders, and repair shop drop-offs and pick-ups. We will also deliver for free within 15 miles of the store with no minimum purchase amount.
How often do you sanitize the store?
We sanitize the store actively throughout the day and have hand sanitizer and face masks available for our customers.
All customer-owned instruments in our repair shop are sterilized with UV-lights upon completion. This service is performed for free and will not harm your instrument. We are leading the industry with this technology!
Where can I get one of those cool mask extenders?
In April of 2020, we began manufacturing a hard plastic mask-extending device that relocates the elastic straps of facemasks off the ear. This makes the masks more comfortable for extended use and helps the mask to form a tighter seal around the mouth and nose.
We have been donating these to regional hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, pharmacies, Police, and EMS. We will continue to manufacture and donate these until they are no longer needed.
If you or a loved one could use some, please get in touch and we will gladly give you as many as you need.
What kind of products do you sell?
We specialize in specialty guitars and amps! We carry hot new brands, cool used gear, and select vintage instruments for all budgets. We also stock hundreds of parts, pedals, pedalboards, stands, straps, accessories, luthier supplies, memorabilia and more. Our inventory is unique, always changing and always growing.

Gift cards are available in any amount and can be used in-store and online. They can also be used for lessons and repairs! Gift card purchases are non-refundable.
Is it true that you can "wake up" a dead sounding guitar?
Sometimes! It's no secret that older acoustics that have been played hard just sound better. We can simulate years of playing in a week's time on your acoustic to help "wake" it up! Contact us for more info.
Are repairs expensive?
We approach every instrument we work on with your budget and expectations in mind. If a full restoration or multiple issues need to be addressed, we will present you with options and help you choose the best plan for your needs. Sometimes, a repair estimate will be higher than the instrument’s value. We are fully transparent with this and will help you make an informed decision.
Do you repair amps and pedals?
Yes! We offer amp and effects pedal repair for all types and models, as well as custom pedalboard setups and wiring support so you can be sure that the sound you hear in your head is also what the audience hears.
What is hot rodding?
Hot Rodding, in its most basic form, is modifying or upgrading an instrument for a specific benefit. Making it lighter, making it heavier, making the neck faster, making the pickups hotter, adding more tone control options, removing tone control options, and of course….making it look as cool as possible.
It can be as easy as upgrading one part, or as complex as modifying every component with a specific goal in mind. We love this process and would love to talk to you about your guitar goals and what we can do to help.
What repair services do you offer?
Absolutely! Our high-tech repair shop is packed with the latest repair tools and technology. From small jobs to massive overhauls, we are ready! Our approach to repairs is unique - we want to to know how you play, what music you play, and what you like and dislike about your guitar. We take that info and tweak our adjustment parameters to give you a truly custom setup for you specific needs. Our specialty is hot-rodding! We want to squeeze every drop of performance out of every guitar we touch.
