1940s DeArmond Tremolo Control - Early Model With Original Box
I've got to say, one of the best parts about owning a vintage guitar shop is that cool stuff like this walks in sometimes and blows us all away!
For your consideration, an early DeArmond Tremolo Control! Regarded as the first standalone effect unit for electric instruments, this neat little contraption passes your instrument signal through a vial of electrolytic fluid that is splashed around by an electric motor. This fluid sloshing around and disrupting the signal flow is what created the Tremolo effect. Neat!
This Tremolo Control is an early production model with the dark molded knobs. Later models, and the majority of these out there, have clear control knobs. Everything on this one is 100% original, with no modifications, no repairs, and no signs of abuse. This is about as clean and original as they get! The original fluid had evaporated, so we refilled it. It works perfectly, and is a blast to use! So many of these have had the output cable and power cables replaced, but this one retains its original cables, which are also in excellent condition. The original box is included. This is seriously like a time capsule!
