2004 Gibson Les Paul Classic - Coppertop - Custom Pinstripe
Stunning, right? For sure. All day long.
This sweet Les Paul started life as a 2004 Gibson Les Paul Classic in the rare Coppertop finish. Nope, that IS NOT A GOLD TOP, THIS IS A COPPERTOP! This guitar was given the hand-pinstripe treatment, in the style of the late-model production Billy Gibbons Les Paul. The striping is really nicely done. I'm a hot rod guy, and I know ugly striping when I see it! This stripe job is tasteful, well-balanced, and the work of a skilled hand. It is worn through in a few spots, but that only adds to the coolness and overall vibes of the guitar.
This exact guitar came to us directly from the personal collection of Chris Robertson, guitarist and vocalist for the band Black Stone Cherry. He used this guitar on the road quite a bit. If you aren't familiar with the band, check them out. He rips on guitar, and even has a PRS Signature Model. A few shots of him on-stage with this guitar are in the photo section, and there are tons more online, as he was photographed with this one quite a bit.
There is a bit of playwear on this one, mostly on the rear of the guitar, but no signs of abuse. The rear cavity covers have been replaced with red almost-tortoiseshell covers that actually don't look bad at all. The stock pickups have been replaced with an early set of Bare Knuckle Peacemakers - that's Chris's signature model pickup. Rad! The rest of the guts are stock, as is all of the hardware except the strap buttons, which are oversized replacements, and the knobs which have been mismatched a' la Peter Green/Gary Moore.
The neck is straight, the truss rod works in both directions, and the fretwear is minimal and no affecting intonation or playability. A Gibson hardshell case is included.
9 lbs even on this one!
