What a great bass! Fender nailed this one!
This one shows some signs of use, but no signs of abuse. The worst of the playwear is some scratching on the front of the instrument. I tried to make them appear in the photos but had to use direct light to make them appear. In the closeup shots of the scratches, you'll see a bright light reflection... that's our lighting, not a glowing white spot on the bass. None of the marks are through the finish. That's authentic wear and tear! The chrome covers have been added. The cover over the bridge was incorrectly placed slightly too close to the butt of the bass, and was relocated to the correct position. There are 2 extra holes, that are small, under the bridge cover because of this. They aren't visible with the cover installed. The original pickguard had some sort of glue residue near the pull-bar. We replaced the guard with the closest replica we could find, and the original is included if you want to swap back.
Electronics are 100% original, no modifications. Freshly setup and strung with Thomastik-Infeld flatwounds ($95 strings!). All of the original case candy is included....certificate of authenticity, hangtags, leather pouch... lots of goodies with this one!
Info from Fender:
By the 1960s, the Precision Bass was the workhorse electric bass; from the clubs of Detroit to the beaches of Southern California, its tone laid the foundation for modern music. The American Original ‘60s Precision Bass has all of the features with which the P Bass conquered the world of music—elegantly simple, its sound, style and comfort are joined by modern playability.
- Alder body with lacquer finish
- Single Pure Vintage ‘63 split-coil P Bass pickup
- Thick “1963 C”-shaped neck profile; 9.5”-radius fingerboard
- Vintage-style hardware; four-saddle bridge
- Includes vintage-style hardshell case
The nitrocellulose lacquer finish not only lets the body breathe with its true tonal character, it also ages and wears in a distinctively personal way.
American Original instruments feature specially voiced pickups crafted to reproduce authentic Fender sound.
This Precision Bass features a “C”-shaped neck profile delivered straight from 1963 to your hands. Remarkably comfortable, it suits any playing style.
Original-era fans can rest assured every curve and line of the body and neck are accurate to the historic originals.
From the bridge to the string tree and tuning machines, every piece of hardware is just like the original.
This 9.5”-radius fingerboard is slightly flatter than a vintage-style 7.25” radius, providing a comfortable fret-hand feel. Vintage-tall frets make it easier to add vibrato to your basslines.
