Of all the years of L-48 production, 1946 is our favorite. That big gold script Gibson logo gives these early examples a completely different personality, and this is the cleanest early L-48 we have had our hands on in a very long time.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThis one also has a particularly cool early wood combination with a spruce top, mahogany sides, and maple back. The back wears a solid brown stain rather than the sunburst backs we more commonly run across from this period, which gives the guitar a great understated look.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe tuners have been replaced, and the bridge has either been replaced or modified at some point. Otherwise, the guitar remains in remarkably original and well-maintained condition. The neck is straight, the truss rod works as it should, and fretwear is minimal and does not affect intonation or playability.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt has been freshly set up and restrung in our shop and is playing beautifully with low action. It is light, comfortable, woody, and has that dry, punchy old Gibson archtop sound that makes these so enjoyable to sit around and play.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe included hardshell case appears to be period-correct or possibly original.
