Pedal Labels are a great system for marking your pedal knob settings! Why do you need to mark settings? Here are some great applications / arguments.

  1. Can't I just memorize my settings? If you're like us, you only have so much harddrive space in the brain. It would be nice to not have to memorize and just easily check those settings.
  2. Couldn't you just take a photo of your board and reference that? Yeah, but now, I have to pull out the phone, find the pic and compare. When all I need to do is lay out the board and double check knobs, without having to do anything.
  3. My knobs don't move, so why do I need to mark settings? If you're on tour and packing/unpacking the board, or accidentally drag your cable across your knobs, things can move. Ever been on stage playing and know something is not-quite-right with your tone? But you're in the moment, and not sure what is wrong. Wouldn't it be nice to quickly compare settings to the labels to potentially eliminate a portion of the problem?
  4. Why should I buy Pedal Labels? Can't I just use tape? Keep reading below, we talk about the problem with tapes and labels.

Pedal Labels are loved by touring musicians, guitar techs and pedal junkies. They are a great and simple solution to keep track of those many settings required for your tone.

What is the problem with using tape on pedals?

Tape, be it gaffer tape or masking tape or avery labels, etc has been used forever on pedals to mark settings. So what is the problem with using these materials?

Gaffers tape and masking tape have a tendency to leave a gooey residue on the pedals. Depending on what type of exposure they face, the adhesive can harden to an almost cement like texture – especially with age. These tapes and mailing labels also have a tendency to tear when removed. So you need to pick and scratch all of the pieces from the pedals. You may even need to use solvents like Goo Gone to remove the residue.

These are the issues with the material, but what about the marking themselves? With tape you are required to draw dashes, circles, lines, etc. Usually, these look pretty rough at best. Sure, they get the job done, but maybe you're wanting a cleaner / pro look.

What's the advantage of Pedal Labels? We pointed out some of the issues with normal tape and labels above. Our Pedal Labels use a low-tack adhesive - so they stick, but can be removed much easier than conventional tape. Our Pedal Labels are printed on high quality vinyl, so they are waterproof AND are much more resistant to tearing than paper labels and masking tape. These labels are even reusable. Pull it off and apply it again on another pedal, etc.

With our pedal labels we provide a variety of styles – from knob groups, single knobs, dual knobs and various marking (color circles and pointer triangles). Knob setting line can be drawn freehand but use a straightedge for maximum pro look. For multi setting knobs, different color inks is a great solution!
