For your consideration, a 1959 Kay K6116 Gleaming Auditorium in Sunburst. These old Kays are still one of the best values out there if you want a real American-made vintage guitar with killer looks, a fun usable voice, and a price that still makes sense. They land in a very sweet spot, and this one has exactly the kind of charm we hope for when one comes through the door.
This one retains all of its original parts aside from the missing headstock badge. Along the way it has had a neck reset. It is not the prettiest reset we have ever seen, but the geometry is right and the guitar plays great, with plenty of saddle height still left on the table. The original bridge has had a crack repaired, and it is holding strong. The pickguard is curling a bit, as these often do. Check out those sweet old cherub stickers! they have been there for a very long time, so we left them on. Neat!
In the hands, this one is a blast. Low action, chunky neck, and that big warm wooly 1950s Kay sound that makes these so easy to enjoy. It has a lot of personality, a lot of vibe, and all the right old-guitar energy. No case is included.
