1965 Fender Mustang - Factory Refin White - Slab Board w/ Case
For your consideration, a lovely 1965 Fender Mustang!
We're fans of the Fender Mustang, but these earliest examples are the ones that excite us the most. They have a few traits that were all phased out on the later 'Stangs, like Kluson tuners, gold "Transitional" headstock decals, slab Rosewood fingerboards, L-Series serial numbers, and a slab body. That's what you want!
If you're a Mustang connoisseur, you may be looking at this one and wondering why a White '65 Mustang has a pearloid pickguard and black pickup covers instead of the red tortoiseshell pickguard and white pickup covers that accompanied the White mustangs. This guitar was originally intended to be red and was resprayed in white, which looks great with the pearloid guard and black pickup covers! This guitar made it all the way from 1965 with only having one changed part: a brass nut was added at some point. Everything else is original. The pickups have 1965 dates, the pots all have 1965 dates, and the neck date is 8OCT65B. The neck is straight, the truss rod works in both directions, the original frets have plenty of life left in them, and all electronic works as they should. The tremolo is nice and springy, and the guitar plays fantastic due to a lap through our Fender-authorized repair facility for a complete exam, setup, and fresh strings. This one is ready to be played! We go through a lot of Mustangs around here and this is the most inspirational to play and hard to put down one we've had in a long time!
A chipboard not-so-great case is included.
