1975 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe - Refin - Purple - Humbucker - w/Hard Case

For your consideration, a 1975 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe in a wild purple refinish with a newer Gibson hardshell case. Check out this mutt.

This one started life as a real 1975 Les Paul Deluxe, complete with the pancake body and big volute you expect from the era. Somewhere along the way it was routed for full-size humbuckers, the fingerboard binding was removed, the serial number was painted over, and the whole guitar was refinished in a purple marble, bowling-ball-looking finish. Subtle, it is not.

A blacklight inspection did not reveal any obvious evidence of a headstock repair, but with a refinish this complete we cannot completely rule out old work hiding underneath the paint.

The current pickups are a Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge and Jazz in the neck, which is a hard pairing to argue with. Plenty of rock and blues muscle, but still enough clarity and range to cover soul, cleaner sounds, and just about anything else you want to throw at it. The rest of the hardware is newer, and the rear control plates have been painted gold. No, we do not have any of the original parts.

The neck is straight, the truss rod works in both directions, and the original frets still have plenty of life left in them. It plays well as-is and has all the weight, feel, and attitude you expect from a real mid-’70s Les Paul.

This is a proper player-grade vintage beater. Play it exactly as it sits and enjoy not worrying about it, or use it as a fantastic starting point for a custom rebuild without feeling guilty about changing an untouched vintage Gibson.
