1996 Gibson SG Standard Black - w/ Hardshell Case
Well, they can't all be the beauty queen.
This 1996 Gibson SG Standard rocks, but it unfortunately had a sticker placed on the front of it. This sticker was allegedly stubborn, and some bad advice from an inexperienced guitar shop on how to remove it, left the guitar with a few scars. The front of the guitar has the most obvious finish damage, but there is a place on the rear that has bubbled up because whoever was trying to use the bad advice to remove the front sticker didn't realize that they set the guitar down on the rag that had the sticker removing goo all over it. The rag melted onto the guitar a little bit, so there's an ugly fuzzy spot on the back. You could cover this with whatever stickers you want, or try to repair it, or cover it some other way. Honestly, if it was ours to keep, we would leave it as-is because OMG the guitar absolutely rips and we wouldn't want to mess with it. 1996 was a good year for Gibson USA....we've said it for 2 decades and people are starting to acknowledge it more and more. The guitar is light, well-balanced, and it makes all of the Gibson SG sounds that you are looking for. The neck is straight, the truss rod works in both directions, and all of the stock electronics work as they should. The tailpiece was black at some point but it has mostly all peeled off. The shiny center discs on the knobs are all missing. No cracks, no headstock breaks, no excuses other than the sticker mishap. It's discounted because of the condition, but you need to know that the guitar is killer and that looks don't matter. The original tan/pink hardshell case is included, and yes, the silly pink cape is still there haha.
Weight: 7lbs even. Perfect weight for an SG!
The 1963 Epiphone amp, strap, and cable shown in some of the photos is not included in the sale of the Gibson SG, sorry.
