1968 Silvertone 57P633L Jumbo Acoustic Guitar - w/Case
For your consideration, a 1968 Silvertone 57P633L Jumbo acoustic guitar with case, the Sears-branded cousin to the Harmony Sovereign Jumbo. This one is a survivor. Mostly original, mostly well cared for, and still carrying all the right old-guitar charm. It has had some repair work over the years, but nothing out of line for the age or for the kind of life a guitar like this usually lives.
The neck is straight, and the guitar remains all original. Along the way it has had a neck reset, crack repairs, some seam reglues, and a few finish touchups. Again, nothing here feels unusual for a jumbo flattop of this age. It is an x-braced guitar, and some of the braces have also been reglued and repaired. There is currently a minor fracture on one of the braces, but it is not actively causing any structural problems.
What really matters is that this thing sounds fantastic. Big, booming, and wide open when you lean into it, but it sweetens up nicely when played with a lighter touch. Somehow it sounds even better than it looks, which is saying something, because it is a great-looking old guitar. The big chunky neck only adds to the experience.
It is playable exactly as it sits, but a little saddle and nut work could turn it into an absolute monster of a player if somebody wanted to take it that extra step. The old case is included. It is falling apart, but it is still a cool old case and suits the guitar well.
