1970 Teisco Del Ray ET-310N - Japan - Spectrum 3-Pickup - Floral Guard - Green Burst - Tremolo

For your consideration, a 1970 Teisco Del Rey ET-310N in Green Burst with three pickups, tremolo, and the always-welcome floral guard. We see a steady flow of the single-pickup and two-pickup versions, usually in sunburst, but a three-pickup tremolo example in greenburst is a different story. Those do not come through every day, and this one has exactly the kind of funky late-’60s/early-’70s Japanese charm we, and probably you, hope for when looking for a Teisco.The look here is half the fun. The green burst finish is still bright and vibrant, the floral pickguard is killer, and all that chrome does exactly what it is supposed to do. It is a lot of look in a small package, and it wears it well. The guitar is all original, and the parts are all working as they should. The Spectrum pickups are healthy, the three rocker switches function properly, and the volume and tone controls are doing their jobs.As a player, this one lands on the better end of the wonky Teisco spectrum, but we want to be honest about what it is. The neck is better than many of these, and the truss rod works in both directions, but the frets do have some high spots and a few raised areas. Fretwear itself is not especially bad. We currently have it set with low action, where it has that fun jangly character these are known for, though there are a few dead notes above the 12th fret. Raising the action up to a more medium-low range improves things significantly. If you are handy with fretwork tools, this could be a very worthwhile one to fine tune.At some point in its life, the headstock had a non-structural split along the seam and was glued back together. It is not the prettiest repair you will ever see, but it has held strong for a long time. A handy future owner could likely clean it up a bit if desired. Beyond that, it shows the expected bumps, bruises, and dings of an old Japanese guitar, but nothing out of the ordinary and nothing that suggests abuse.
