1979 1980 Ibanez RS924 Roadster Bass - Sunburst - w/ OHSC - The 85th One Made!
For your consideration, a 1979 Ibanez RS924 Roadster Bass in Brown Sunburst!
What a beast of a bass! The really are tone-machines that can make nearly every sound we would ever need a bass to make. Ibanez loaded this model with features.....hi-mass bridge, active electronics, P and J pickups, heavy-duty tuners, the Quadra-Lock neck system, a bone nut, a volute on the back of the headstock, and on and on. They knew they were making a professional instrument, and it still feels substantial and rock solid (and rock heavy!) in the hands. This bass makes us smiles because it has tarnished metal parts, and cracked paint, but is also 100% original and 100% fully functional. It's seen some things, but managed to never need to have any parts replaced or upgraded. It's a true survivor! The paint is chipping away on the lower bout and around the upper strap button (this one strap button might be the only replaced part?...it looks fresher than the rest of the bass). All electronic components work as they were intended and all pots and the jack have been cleaned and work without noise. The bass is freshly setup, restrung, and has a new battery. It is ready to rock!
This bass weighs exactly 12lbs. Please, do not buy this bass and ask to return it because it is too heavy. We know it is heavy. In fact, we know precisely how heavy it is, and that is why we are sharing that here with you, right now. The weight of these old Roadsters is part of the experience and part of what makes them sound great and also inspires you to play differently.
Check out the original triangular Ibanez hardshell case! This is the first we have seen that still has all of the original latches, hinges, handle attached and functional, while also having the silky Ibanez banner and a functioning storage compartment lid, plus the original tool for adjusting the neck and pickups. It's a bit worn, but it's all there and still works great as a usable hardshell case!
