For your consideration, a 1997 Fender American Standard B-Bender Telecaster. We have said it for years and we mean it. The American Standard is still one of the best bangs for the buck out there if you want a used Tele that is reliable, versatile, affordable, easy to maintain, easy to upgrade, easy to work on, and good-looking enough to never feel out of place. They are true workhorse guitars, and this one adds an extra layer of factory hot-rod appeal.
Fender only made small batches of these with factory-installed B-Bender systems, and they do not come up for sale all that often. It has been a while since we have seen a black one, and black is a great look on a guitar built to make honky tonk music and then some. It is 100% original aside from a Seymour Duncan Hot Stack bridge pickup, which is a really good fit here. It adds a little more punch and heat than the stock pickup without feeling out of character. The original pickup is not included.
The neck is straight, the truss rod works in both directions, and fretwear is present but not affecting intonation or playability. All electronics are working as they should, and our Fender-authorized in-house repair shop has cleaned, lubed, and adjusted the bender system along with giving the guitar a full setup and fresh strings. It is playing with low action, and the bender feels smooth, accurate, and ready to work. There are some dings, scuffs, and honest signs of use, but nothing that suggests abuse or neglect. A really nice Fender hardshell case is included.
