2001 Epiphone - Pierced - Gothic SG - Matte Black
It doesn't get much more metal than this!
Epiphone took their slick matte black Gothic SG one step further by cutting a huge X into the body, giving it a pair of hoop earrings, and making it look like it went to war a few times. The resulting guitar is pretty tough looking.... it's not for everyone....we get it. But, if this is your aesthetic, this thing is hard AF and you know it. Epiphone made one batch of these in 2001 and never made them again. The total number of Pierced SGs made is uncertain, but based on what we know about Epiphone's manufacturing schedule and limited run capabilities of the era (hi, former employee here), there should have been only 200-400 of these beasts released into the wild, making it a pretty rare guitar. This one is 100% original and fully functional. It has been played, but it's hard to tell because it left the factory looking like it was run over by a truck with show chains on the tires. Some spots have worn themselves shiny, but it actually looks alright so we left it that way and didn't dull it back to being just dull. The neck is straight, the truss rod works, the frets have minimal wear, and the original electronics thrash harder than we expected. The chunk cut out of the body saves some weight, making it super light at only: No cracks and no signs of previous repair. There is a scratch and scrap on the back of the neck near the headstock. We have examined it with a blacklight and it is for sure not a crack even though it may look like one in the photo. We aren't sure if it is one of those dents installed at the factory or one added by a previous owner, but rest easy knowing that is it NOT a crack.
Weight: 6lbs 12oz
Freshly setup with low action and new strings, this one is ready to RIP!
