1966 Kay Vanguard K102 - Old Kraftsman - w/ Case
When people ask us to name a real American-made vintage guitar that is actually usable, looks cool, is fun to play, and well under $1,000, the Kay Vanguard is ALWAYS a part of the conversation. Slab body, chunky U-shaped neck, Kay Pancake pickups.... you can't go wrong!
This Kay Vanguard K102 model sports the Old Kraftsman branding, which means it was sold through the Spiegel catalog or department stores. Neat! This one is in original condition with no changed parts. The high E tuner is slightly bent, a common problem on catalog guitars from this era. The tremolo arm is missing, but otherwise this is the cleanest Vanguard we've seen in a long time. The neck is straight, and the guitar play great from a recent setup and fresh strings. The original electronics all work as they should and sound great. The original chipboard case is included.
