1970's Lyle - Matsumoku MIJ - Trini Lopez Copy - Brown - w/ Original Case
For your consideration, an early 1970's Lyle "Trini Lopez" copy from the Matsumoku factory in Japan. The Lyle brand was imported by a Norlin-owned company....that's the same folks that owned Gibson during this period, so that's how Lyle was able to get away with making such blatant copies. Neat!
This guitar came to us in original, but unusable condition. The original wiring harness was not in great shape, so we swapped in a quartet of CTS pots, a pair of Orange Drop capacitors, a Switchcraft switch and a Switchcraft output jack, with all new wiring. These pickups are super low output, They both work, but their output is around 4.7K, each, so they're a little quiet. People online seem to buy these guitars BECAUSE of the lo-fi low-output sound, so we left them installed. So, the guitar does work, but you'll want to upgrade or replace these pickups with something hotter if you ware chasing an authentic Gibson sound. The rest of the guitar is original, aside from a replaced trapeze tailpiece and a set of knobs. The truss rod works, and the guitar seems to have lived a peaceful life without neglect. It plays great with low action and fresh strings. The original wiring parts that were removed are included, as is the original chipboard case. This guitar has a great vibe and looks like a brown Trini Lopez!
