1974 Yamaha AE-11 Archtop Electric - Sunburst

For your consideration, a sweet 1974 Yamaha AE-11 Archtop Electric! 

These are rather impressive guitars that we have always felt are underappreciated and underrepresented when discussing old Jazz boxes. The fit and finish and playing experience and sound are up there with guitars in this category that cost several times the price that these sell for. They truly are a well-kept secret in the vintage guitar marketplace. This one is in playable condition. The neck is straight, the truss rod works in both directions, and the action is low from a recent setup and fresh set of flatwound strings. The frets have some string wear, but it is not affecting intonation. If you were wanting to gig full time with this one, it would probably need some fresh frets in the future for optimal performance, but it is fully playable and usable as it sits. NO cracks! All hardware is original to the guitar. Two of the knobs are missing the trim caps that often fall of on knobs like this, and the leather insert has been removed from the tailpiece. You could cut a piece of leather to fit, or even a nice block of wood would look nice, if wanted. The stock electronics all work as they should and the makes a surprisingly wide range of tones and easily nails the classic big Jazz-box sounds we're all chasing. The fragile area around the input jack has been reinforced and the finish touched up around it. It isn't a perfect looking repair, but it's mostly hidden and structurally solid. The original Sunburst finish is intact and still vibrant, but there are tiny raised dots all over the back and sides of the guitar. We aren't sure why...it looks and feels like a factory job and not something that was added. It doesn't look like finish damage, it's just a light texture.
