1980's Gretsch Synsonics Resonator Acoustic w/ Case
Check out this cool old Synsonics Resonator!
The Synsonics brand was one of the first ventures launched by Fred Gretsch in the 1980s while in the process of trying to relaunch and reestablish the Gretsch brand. Toy maker, Mattel, had a hand in it as well, as some Synsonics branded instruments were distributed through toy stores. We've heard for years that this venture was a way for Fred to test the manufacturing capabilities of various Korean factories before committing to having the Gretsch brand manufactured overseas. The guitar feels more substantial and well-built than one would expect from the relatively low price. The neck is straight, and the guitar appears to have retained all of its original parts. We removed the cone to inspect the internal structure and was surprised by how tidy and nicely assembled it was. We vacuumed out the dust bunnies, reassembled, and gave the guitar a complete setup. It plays great and sounds nice in standard tuning, but really comes to life in Open E with a slide. It growls!
A nice hardshell case is included.
