1960s Kay Archtop Acoustic - Sunburst
For your consideration, a 1960s Kay archtop. We never really get tired of these. They are pleasant, affordable, real American-made vintage guitars that still feel useful instead of precious.
This one has a couple of smart upgrades: newer Kluson Deluxe tuners and an intonated ebony replacement bridge with adjustable height. Both are nice improvements over the original hardware and make the guitar easier to live with. The rest of the instrument remains original.
It has low miles, shows no signs of abuse, and does not need a neck reset. There are no cracks, the neck is firmly attached, and the guitar has been freshly set up and restrung with low action.
The only repair evidence we found is from some side seam separations that were previously reglued. That is pretty typical territory on old Kay archtops, and the repairs are holding well.
A simple, honest old Kay that plays nicely and has that warm, woody, slightly thumpy archtop sound we love these for.
