1966 Kay K6835 Super Auditorium Special - Archtop Acoustic - w/Case
For your consideration, a 1966 Kay K6835 Super Auditorium Special archtop acoustic with case. This one is a survivor, and a good-looking one at that. The sunburst finish is beautiful, and it has that warm, percussive, thumpy, wooly voice we love from these old archtops.
The tuners have been replaced with an older set of Klusons, and the bridge has been swapped for a Tune-o-matic-style adjustable unit. It has also had a neck reset. The reset is not the prettiest work we have seen, but it is structurally solid and the guitar is fully playable as it sits.
Like many old archtops in this price range, it could be made even better with a little bridge work and fine-tuning, but it is enjoyable right now and has plenty of old Kay character. A case is included.
