1999 Lace California Twister HSS - USA S-Style - Sunburst - w/Gig Bag

Late ‘90s (1999–2000ish) Lace California Twister, USA-made and one of those pieces that stops people mid-step when they realize what they’re holding. Not a lot of solid info exists on these, but everything we’ve seen points to a very small run—somewhere in the 50–60 range for examples like this.

It’s 100% original and in great shape for its age. There are a few dings and scuffs from being played over the last 25+ years, but nothing out of line. The neck is straight—aside from the intentional twist—and it’s the kind of feature that sounds gimmicky until you actually spend a few minutes with it. Then it just clicks. It feels natural, comfortable, and a little addictive. We’ve had a lot of fun handing this one to people and watching the reaction.

Fretwear is minimal and not affecting playability. It’s been freshly set up and restrung, playing clean with low action. The Lace HSS setup is everything you’d hope for—hot when you lean into it, but it cleans up beautifully. The mini toggle handles coil tap duties and also functions as a coil split, giving you access to both inside and outside coils, which opens up a surprising amount of usable ground. It still feels like a Strat in all the right ways, just with a little more push behind it.

These originally sold right alongside Fender American Deluxe Strats in their day, and it shows. This wasn’t a budget experiment—it was a serious, forward-thinking build that just flew under the radar.
