1965 Silvertone 1457 Guitar with Amp / Case Combo - Red - PROJECT

For your consideration, a Silvertone 1457 guitar with the amp-in-case combo in Red. Project.

We have restored a bunch of these over the years and always enjoy having them around the shop. They are just cool. This one came in as a project, but like happens around here about once a year, the project pile got too deep and this one did not make the cut.

The case is rough, but it is all there. The built-in amp powers on and makes sound, but we did not dig any deeper than that. Plan on it needing the usual old-amp attention before regular use — caps, tubes, grounded power cable, cleaning, and whatever else turns up once somebody actually goes through it.

The guitar itself is mostly complete. One stacked knob set is missing, the pots are stiff, and it will need a proper cleaning and mechanical/electrical refresh before it is really usable. That said, it is far from too far gone. There is absolutely a survivor still in here.

We even kicked around the idea of fitting the amp into a newer hardshell case and making a cleaner, more usable version of the original concept, but we never got that far.

Restore it. Rebuild it. Hot rod it. Make a weird new case for the amp. Nail the whole thing to the wall as-is. That part is up to you.
